Ned Grant is a senior Pitjantjatjara law-man and celebrated artist whose practice is deeply anchored in the lands of the Spinifex Arts Project of the Great Victoria Desert, Western Australia. Raised amid forced mission relocations and later returning to his ancestral Country, Grant has emerged as a principal voice in the mapping of desert memory through painting. Since joining the Spinifex Arts Project in 1997, he has contributed to landmark collaborative works that document native title claims and cultural resurgence. His canvases articulate the rhythmic terrain of sandhills, rockholes and ancestral tracks with austere geometry and layered nuance. Recognised globally, Grant’s work is held in major collections including the British Museum. He stands as a vital custodian of place-story, charting continuity between ceremony, land and artistic expression.
