by direct descent to Maria Stephens, South Australia, 2011

NB. Nosepeg Tjupurrula drove the first 8 artworks into Alice Springs on behalf of Kaapa and delivered them to Jack Cooke - the District Welfare Officer (Southern District - Department of the Interior). Kaapa then wins the Caltex Art Award - and in the days following this, Jo Caddy buys the painting (on behalf of Dr Margaret King-Boyes) along with several other works - through Jack Cooke and then she traveled to Papunya with Warren Smith (Superintendent at Papunya) to meet Kaapa in person.

Exhibited

This painting will be included in the forthcoming exhibition 65,000 Years: A Short History of Australian Art, the inaugural exhibition in the redeveloped Ian Potter Museum of Art, opening on 23 May 2024 and running until 20 August 2024. Significant part I, D'Lan Contemporary, Melbourne, 2 June – 22 July 2023
