Talk Series: Bark Masters

The exhibition, Bark Masters, a curated selection of museum-quality bark paintings highlights some of the finest practitioners from the Tiwi Islands, West Arnhem Land and East Arnhem Land.

On Saturday 26 July we welcomed Malcom Davidson, Director, Art Oceanic for a conversation with Luke Scholes, Director, D’Lan Contemporary about the history, the artists and the subject matter that defines this uniquely Australian art form. Drawing on a lifetime of learning about the art of First Nations people alongside his father Jim, Malcom shared his insights into the evolution of bark paintings within the broader context of the contemporary art market.
