Description
In respect of the law, Paddy Bedford avoids any ritual iconography. Instead, he works directly with the impressions of the Ngarranggarni or Dreaming that appear in the contours formed by the creative actions of travelling ancestral beings across the country.
Mendoowoorrji or Medicine Pocket is the general name given to the line of hills between the two sites, Thoonbi and Thoowoonggoonarrin on Paddy Bedford's mother's and uncle's country. Medicine Pocket is a ngarraggarni place that holds living water and was an important camping area before the arrival of Europeans. In the Dreamtime, Wanggarnal the crow camped there when she was in the form of a woman. He camping spot is called Wanggarnaban ('the place that has crows') and is part of Menoowoorrji.
